Tamara specializes in relationship therapy and individual psychotherapy.
As a relationship therapist she works with couples, adult children with their parents and adult sibling relationships. Her goal is to help clients to find a more positive and loving way to be in relationship with one another.
Tamara was trained as a family, individual and couples therapist more than 20 years ago. She worked at various family service agencies until she opened her private practice 13 years ago. In her early career, she was greatly influenced by Virginia Satir and then trained as an Imago Relationship Therapist in 1997. In Imago, she went on to receive her Advanced Clinician Status and then became a Workshop Presenter and most recently a Certified Consultant where she supervises and consults other Imago therapists.
In her individual work Tamara has always specialized in trauma and grief. She has worked in the area of violence against women and survivors of childhood abuse since the beginning of her career. She trained in EMDR and received her Level 1 and 2 EMDR certificate in 1999.
Tamara believes deeply that people can and do change. She is passionate about helping people achieve their potential within themselves and with each other. Her strongest belief is in relationships and the power they have to transform. She has committed her entire career to helping people discover what it truly means to be who they are and help them identify how they want to live their life.
She has a natural ability to see people’s potential for growth and a compassionate manner which helps clients feel safe to self discover. With couples and families she teaches them to calm their reactions towards each other and find a deeper understanding which results in reconnection and growth. She is also a highly practical person and teaches clients new skills to change old behavior patterns. She has been told many times her warmth and genuineness help people to feel safe to do the work they need to do.
