I have had a private practice in Kitsilano since 1997 where I provide counseling for individuals, couples and family relationships. I specialize in working with couples of all sexual orientations, family members hoping to heal adult relationships and individuals who suffering childhood trauma, grief and depression.
The theoretical approaches most influential in my work are humanistic and psychodynamic psychology. The modalities I primarily work from are Imago Relationship Therapy and EMDR .
I completed a Masters in Women’s Studies at The University of Bradford, England in 1985 and then went on to complete my Masters at the University of British Columbia in Counseling Psychology in 1990. I did my undergraduate work at the University of Victoria and then went on to complete my undergraduate degree at Simon Fraser University in 1983.
I am a Certified Imago Therapist (1996), reached Advanced Clinician Status (1999), became a Certified Workshop Presenter (2008) and most recently, an Imago Consultant (2009). I completed my EMDR training Level 1 and 2 in 1999.
I have always loved learning and have taken too many workshops, seminars and specialized trainings to remember! These include trainings with John Gottman, David Schnarch, Ellen Bader, Virginia Satir, David Burns, Hedy Schleifer, Maya Kollman and Harville Hendrix. My view is that to be a great teacher means being a life-long student, a process that will continue throughout my life.
Although I have completed many years of education and training the commitment I have to my partner and family has the greatest influence on my work. I am grateful to be in a loving partnership of almost 25 years with two wonderful sons. My deepest belief is that our relationships to each other are what define our humanity. I have devoted my life to helping people live and heal their relationships with each other so they can live in connection with themselves and those in their lives.
